Los Angeles Wing Chun

Master James Sinclair, the Founder and Chief Instructor, of the prestigious UK Wing Chun Kung FU Association, has recently returned from a trip to Los Angeles.

In September 2017 Master James Sinclair met up with a number of the leading Wing Chun Kung Fu teachers available.    As a special guest of Grandmaster Wan Kam Leung, James was invited to meet up at the Los Angeles Wing Chun Headquarters of Master Gary Lam in Alhambra California.  James was treated very well and honoured to be given a seat next to Grandmaster Wan in the photo session.  This was a surprise as James was only a guest of the Grandmaster and was expecting such ‘face’ to be given.

It was a great pleasure for James to meet Garandmaster Wan’s family and spend some time with his long term friend of approaching 12 years.

Special thanks also have to go out to Master Gary Lam for opening the doors to James and allowing him to be present at what was a very exclusive series of seminars held by the Masters of the Wong Shun Leung lineage.

James and his son enjoyed an extended lunch with the Grandmaster and William Kwok of the Gotham Wing Chun School in New York.

During James’ time in California he also visited respected Wing Chun Master Robert Chu, who remain one of the greatest authorities on the history of the Art.  He has traced by genuine manuscripts outlining the original concepts and approaches of Wing Chun Kung from its earlier days.  A fascinating discussion and of particular interest was the discussion on Qi Gong and its use in the Wing Chun system.

Here is a more recent video from our live Zoom discussion on basic strikes. As you may have noticed we have stopped presenting as many videos. So… two in a day is out of the ordinary, (or bang 'out of order mate' as our Essex based naysayers may bray) but it is really just a Holiday Special.....! It remains a thankless and time hungry activity to produce these snippets from our live Saturday morning Zoom sessions. The viewing numbers, and likes of our Facebook videos, are hugely in opposite directions. Are you really not enjoying them? Are you not entertained….! If you do enjoy this type of passive Wing Chun material, please take the time to move your cursor/finger a short distance and 'hit the like button'. You are also welcome to comment or request topics you would like to see. No promises, although we will consider it.As this is just a short extract from a far longer discussion, it is open to misinterpretation. You may well take the topic and comments out of context. For this reason we will not engage in any discussion. It is probable that it was discussed in the full video. We could go back and forth ad infinitum. We accept that James' presentational teaching style will not suit everyone. However. it is hoped that you will glean something of interest, and don't deign to consider it a complete waste of time. Here's to the love and humiity found in Martial Arts!!!Happy Holidays one and all. May this be a time when we accept we all wish to be happy in the presece of those we love, and try to be gracious and kind to all. Here is some 'not much to do with fighting or self defnce', ART. This clip will certainly not apeal to a some viewers, however, there may be some practitoners who enjoy the 'Art' and are not constantly thinking of fighting, vengence and living a paranoid life!Make of it what you wish..... We saw the comment below online, and it made us laugh out loud as it seems so approriate in todays world..."Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say".We do not know who originally came up with the comment however we hope they apprecaite that we appreciate it......Over the past few months we filmed 21 videos on Wooden Dummy training, and variations therein, that demonstrate how the Muk Yahn Jong can be of real world use, and not just a piece of wood to dance to someone elses historical tune/choreography. ..... and no you would not then just be 'dancing' to our choreograhy, as the skills and variations we discuss are flexible, interchangeable techniqes. If you think some short extracts of these Wooden Dummy tips may be of interest, let us know.Or… maybe you would like to join for live zoom sessions and have access to the full discussion videos. We have noticed that there are a lot of views and revisits to view. May we ask, in all humility, that If you like these clips and want to keep them coming, we would be grateful if you could let us know. A simple 'like' is comparable to a courteous 'thank you' in the online world. Manners cost nothing. Another short extract from the series on Chi Sau we were presenting in our online teaching sessions. We have well over 400 1/2 hour videos, they are great and a superb resource. No hype or self promotion just discussions on the Art.Please accept this is but a small extract from a far longer discussion and can easily be taken out of context. Before you say would would do 'this or that', the other person can always have answers for anwers 'this and that' too. That is the enjoyment of training. Because this is but an extract, we will not enter into any dicussion as the points people make were often, if not always, covered in other parts of the discussion. For those interested there only a couple of weeks left to join the classes run personally by James Sinclair. However, if you are already familiar, and have trained in the Art, you would be welcome to start at any time under his guidance. James teaches in Leicester, St Neots, Bedford and at the Rayleigh Wing Chun National HQ.#chisau #WingChun #KungFu #ukwckfa #wingchunleicester #wingchunbedford #wingchunrayleigh #martialarts #wingchunstneots #stickyhands ...
